What is Nara?

Nara, being the abbreviation of our company name, Nature Research Apparel Co., Ltd. HongKong, also happens to be the ancient capital of Japan. It is a name of beauty and tradition; its distinction comes from the harmony in its blend of nature with humanity. The city has the highest concentration of Buddhist temples in Japan and yet has been able to ride the rapid industrialization wave smoothly since the Meiji Restoration. It is a living success story of how men can coexist with nature, yet develop and thrive. The giant Buddha overlooking the souls of Nara seems to remind us that no matter how hectic life is, ultimately it is tranquility and peace of mind that matter. With this in mind, we chose Nara as the name of our apparel, hoping to bring you tranquility and peace of mind.

As such, we pride ourselves on being a new breed of designers who care about the environment and health. Our concern is to reduce stress to both the earth and men; our choice is Genuine Silk for material, simplicity in design and workmanship for durability.

You'd be pretty surprised if we were to tell you that our designers are young ladies in their early thirties, with backgrounds in designing couture for today's fast moving, fashion-forward generation. It's true, and with good reason! We know no matter how green we become, "keeping you fashionable" is still our number one priority. And who can be more forefront than those who were born right around 1980 and don’t know a thing about Berlin Wall! The world has changed from one that used to see East West confrontation as a way of life to one that is rapidly globalized and turns flat. The new breed designers care more about individuality, nature, global warming and health. They are keenly conscious over the stress and challenge that you and I face in modern day society.

In this sense, our designers are 21st century global. They fully understand that people should not be made slaves of fashion; rather, fashion should be a function of men’s desire for freedom and comfort.

Last but not the least, we are vertically integrated --- we own our factory in Shantou, province of Canton, China where century old spinning and garment industries still flourish. With computerized production facilities and a dedicated troupe of skilled tailors, we have the cost advantage that enables us to offer the most competitive pricing in the market place.

At Nara, our aim is to return clothing back to nature. Nature in the sense of health, comfort, individuality and environmental consciousness. We use only nature grown materials, but strive to offer designs covering both timeliness and timelessness; ranging from simplicity to sophistication; emphasizing workmanship at all costs. But most of all, excelling in both trendsetting and selection.

Though positioned as an online retailer, we never forget ourselves being a manufacturer, and as such always put quality as job number one.
